Albo Tries to Revise The Abuser Fee Record

*****NEW ALBITE ALERT*****

What is with with Marc Fisher? Every time Del. Dave Albo sits down with him, he says something strange. Last time, he was complaining that you just can't do what your donors want you to all the time. See, AMG Sooner or Later Albo Actually Has to Listen to His Voters! (Jan. 15, 2007). This time, in trying to explain his dismay at the reaction to his "Abuser Fee" Plan said the following:

"I've never seen anything like this. Normally, people are fine with raising money in a way that doesn't affect everybody."
Marc Fisher, Rage Over Driver's Fees Has Legislator's Asking, Huh?,
Washington Post (Aug. 26, 2007).
And who else does Del. Dave Albo blame for what happened? That's right, the BIG BAD BLOGS! That's right. How dare us blogger types actually shine a spotlight on his legislative record. He's entitled to toil in anonymity. He's only a legislator, right?

Back to the substance of his quote... This quote basically shows that Del. Dave Albo basically doesn't believe in the concept of government. Imagine this concept:
How about we spread the burden of certain things that benefit everyone across everyone?
What's that called? Some revolutionary Karl Maxish precept? Nope, it's actually called GOVERNMENT. But on Planet Albo, only the poor people pay for services that poor people pay or only "road abusers" who have Virginia licenses pay for roads or whatever.....

Which brings us to more Albo revisionist history. In the same article, it goes on - "Albo, who insists he won't get new business from the abuser fees, says it was a mistake to exclude out-of-state drivers, and that can and will be fixed." Huh? Let's look at Albo's historical epiphany:

Albo's Abuser Fee Injustice

Here is one reason that Del. Dave Albo's Abuser Fees are totally unjust in their application. Albo Must Go calls for an exception to Del. Albo's abuser fees for this type of situation.

Charged with refusal because he wants to scratch his nuts? Outrageous.

Shame Del. Albo, shame. ;-)

Albo Care About the Poor? Yeah Right!

Today's online Washington Post headline reads:
Judge Upholds Va. Driver's Fees
Evidence Emerges That Law Was Enacted Without Fully Researching the Potential Effect on the Poor.
The article goes on to state:
In January, a month before the Virginia General Assembly approved the fees, the Texas legislature issued a report that concluded a similar program in that state was failing because thousands of drivers could not afford to pay the fees. A copy of the report was obtained by The Washington Post on Monday. . . .

According to the Texas Legislative Budget Board, the state has reported a collection rate of 29 percent since the fees went into effect in 2003. As of a year ago, in 55 percent of cases, involving 828,000 licenses, licenses were suspended because fees were not paid, the report says. . . .

The report says lawmakers should consider offering periodic amnesty to some drivers facing the fees, including those who can prove that their driving has improved.

Until changes are made, there are signs the fees are clogging the Texas court system.

Texas Sen. Eliot Shapleigh, a Democrat from El Pason, estimates that half of outstanding arrest warrants in El Paso and Austin are for people who are unable to pay the fees. According to Shapleigh's analysis, 11 percent of residents of those cities have outstanding arrest warrants.

"Driving responsibility laws are increasingly resembling debtors prisons," Shapleigh wrote in a letter to Texas lawmakers last month.

Now, who would've thought that Del. Dave Albo didn't care about poor people? What is it he said in 2004 again?

"My job is to fight for my people, my people are wealthy."
- Del. Dave Albo, Washington Post, Jan. 1, 2004

Oh yeah. . . .
